About Dr. Fort

Nicholas M. Fort, M.D. is a highly dedicated board certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. Dr. Fort treats injuries and conditions affecting the hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow. He has additional expertise in complex traumatic reconstruction of the upper extremity, sports related injuries of the hand, wrist, and elbow, and treatment of peripheral nerve injuries. He is dedicated to providing individualized care for his patients.

Dr. Fort is a 4th generation South Floridian and cares deeply for the needs of his community and patients he serves. He was born and raised in Miami, Florida and attended Ransom Everglades High School in Coconut Grove, Florida. He subsequently received his undergraduate degree at Brown University, where he was a varsity water polo player and academic All-American. He completed his medical education at the Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University where he was awarded the T. Campbell Thompson Prize for Excellence in Orthopedic Surgery. He then completed a residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Miami / Jackson Health System, followed by a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, a top rated orthopedic hospital.

Dr. Fort’s dedication to patient care goes beyond his surgical expertise. Fluent in both English and Spanish, he values effective communication and strives to deliver compassionate, accessible healthcare to the diverse community he serves.

Dr. Fort is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery with a subspecialty certification in Surgery of the Hand. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) and Miami Orthopedic Society (MOS).

In his free time Dr. Fort enjoys spending time on the water with his family; he is an avid fisherman and diver.
